Landon Donovan’s performance on Sunday night – with a hand in every goal, including one of his own – did not go unnoticed. The LA veteran was named MLS Player of the Week, and joined the Galaxy’s other Designated Players on the MLS Team of the Week.
Donovan’s three assists against a helpless New York side would’ve been impressive on their own. But combined, they pushed Donovan to a tie for the all-time MLS assists record. If that wasn’t enough to earn Player of the Week, Landon also scored one of his own in LA’s rout of the Red Bulls.
But it was far from a single player’s victory — captain Robbie Keane put away two, and Omar Gonzalez led an impressive defensive performance to shut out scoring-machine Bradley Wright-Phillips.
Those are the sort of performances that can’t go unnoticed — and they didn’t, as all three players made Team of the Week. The full lineup’s below.
