OFFICIAL: Alan Gordon Has Re-Signed with the LA Galaxy (UPDATE)

UPDATE: 1.11.2016

It’s OFFICIAL. The LA Galaxy announced that they have re-signed Free Agent Alan Gordon. As is the case with all MLS signings, per league and club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gordon played in 29 games in 2015 starting sevenĀ and tallying three game winning goals – the second most on the team behind Robbie Keane, who scored five.

The 34 year old Gordon also spent some time with the US Mens National Team earning multiple call-ups throughout the year.

Gordon, a fan favorite, is a nice stable addition to a roster in the midst of upheaval. And with 10 goals to his name in 2015 he could be worth every penny if it comes to saving points and stealing some late game wins.

Alan Gordon to RemainĀ in LA?

Bruce Arena hinted at the fact that the LA Galaxy expected to re-sign Alan Gordon and now it’s done, according to “Gordo.” The LA Galaxy “Super Sub” announced his signing via his Instagram account. Gordon captioned his video with “The feeling you get when negotiations are finally done and you sign with the team you want to be with! Let’s go!”

The 34 year-old Alan Gordon is a 12 year veteran of the league playing with 4 teams and having two separate stints with the LA Galaxy (2004-2010 and 2014-present). Known for his height (6 Feet 3 Inches) and physical play, Gordon has scored a total of 49 Regular Season goals in a total of 11,502 minutes.

The two sides had been in talks for nearly a month and the LA Galaxy seemed to always be in the mindset of keeping the tall forward.

This will once again allow the LA Galaxy to deploy Gordon to be a target forward and work off of Robbie Keane in the later stages of games. Gordon scored 5 goals in 977 minutes with the LA in 2015. With a couple of those coming at significants points in the match.

Gordon was part of MLS’s first ever Free Agent class and could’ve signed with any team in MLS but chose to stay with his current club. His free-agency signing can be added to the other free-agent signing for the LA Galaxy, Jeff Larentowicz.

Another interesting note to this signing is that MLS rules state that each team is only allowed 2 Free-Agent signings. And with rumors of Mike Magee also making a return to the LA Galaxy via Free Agency it puts them at odds with that rule. However, there may be a loop hole that allows a team to re-sign their own players without hitting that Free Agent cap.

No official announcement has been made from the LA Galaxy but it’s fairly safe to say that Alan Gordon will stay with the team.
