On this special Short Corner episode Josh Guesman sits down with LA Galaxy midfielder Nigel De Jong.
Carson, CA – It’s not everyday that Corner of the Galaxy gets to sit down with a player as accomplished as Nigel De Jong. If you say his name you’re going to get a lot of opinions. They’ll talk about being him being a “Dirty Player” and they’ll say that he’s too aggressive. They’ll probably consider him some dumb footballer who enjoys beating kids up for their candy. However, despite his reputation, we’ve only known him as a man who’s kind, thoughtful and loves to play the game.
Josh Guesman sat down with Nigel De Jong somewhere deep within the labyrinth of halls underneath StubHub center for a one on one chat.
We’ll ask questions that look at his motives for coming to Los Angeles, why he always wanted to end his career in Major League Soccer and what he thinks of the travel and the refereeing inside of the league. We’ll also cover topics including the knowledge base American soccer has and how far behind Europe he sees the team and League.
Finally we’ll also talk about Nigel’s future with the LA Galaxy and what he wants to do as player for the LA Galaxy.
It’s a brief look into a tiny window on a man who is probably misunderstood and who could end up being a real super star for the LA Galaxy.
TRAINING OBSERVATIONS AND INJURY UPDATE:
Outside of Jose Villarreal who played 90 minutes for LA Galaxy II in their 1-1 draw, everyone was at training this morning. Josh will get updated on the players who are still hurt and why it could be time for Giovani dos Santos to make his return to the field against Portland.
Lot’s of notes from training as well. This team is having fun on and off the field and that could bode well for them down the line.
It’s a packed informational show with a great guest!
Special thanks to Brendan Hannan, Chris Glidden and the rest of the LA Galaxy PR team for setting up the interview. And special thanks to Nigel De Jong for taking time out of his day to have a chat.
