From The Box: Is Robbie Keane the Greatest MLS Signing Ever?

On today’s show your hosts and special guest will discuss whether or not Robbie Keane is the greatest MLS signing ever. They’ll also prognosticate on his current contract situation.

CoG Studios, CA – It’s been five years since the LA Galaxy acquired Irish International Robbie Keane. And in that five years he’s been nothing short of extraordinary. But is Robbie Keane, the owner of 80 regular season goals and over 10,000 minutes of regular season play, the greatest signing in the history of the League?

Gabe Montoya (@Gabe_Montoya13) writes for TheStoppageTime.com and joins us today.

There are other names to discuss. Like LA Galaxy legend Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Thierry Henry, Juan Pablo Angel, Sebastian Giovinco and others. But what has made Robbie Keane stick out from the rest? What has been the key to his success? And what should the LA Galaxy do when considering his future with the club?

Brought out into the public’s eye by an interview, the Galaxy have not re-signed Keano to any contract. In fact, at the end of the 2016 season, Robbie Keane’s contract runs out. So should the LA Galaxy put another Designated Player contract in front of him now? Should they wait? Or should they let Keane go?

These are all difficult decisions and hopefully this podcast will give you a brief look into the complex nature of a monumental choice that awaits the team.

What do you think? Is Robbie Keane the greatest MLS Signing ever in the history of the league? Or does someone else take the trophy?
