2017 Preseason For LA Galaxy Includes Four Games Through February

The LA Galaxy announced their schedule for the preseason and it includes four matches spanning the entire month of February. And unlike past years, three of those games will be open to the public, and two of the matches will be televised, making this one of the most accessible preseasons in recent memory.

The team will report to StubHub Center on January 23. The opening days will include medical physicals and fitness testing as the team sets baselines for their upcoming season. But after all the “paperwork” is out of the way, the Galaxy will hit the training field as the preseason quickly ramps up.

The Galaxy will first host, Liga MX side, Club Tijuana (Xolos) on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 8 PM. This game will be played at StubHub Center and will be broadcast by Spectrum SportsNet. Xolos were the 2012 Apertura winners after being promoted to the top flight in Mexican football in 2011. Currently, they sit in 7th place after just two games into the Clausura.

The Xolos exhibition game is also listed as a Season Ticket Member Bonus game. But tickets will open to the General Public on January 31st.

The LA Galaxy will next travel to Las Vegas and Cashman Field as they join the San Jose Earthquakes in a preseason Cali Clasico on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 7 PM. This will be the second consecutive season the two California teams have faced off in Las Vegas prior to the season beginning. Tickets are already for sale and can be purchased by clicking HERE. This game will not be televised.

The only listed “closed-door” game will be played against Armenian side Alashkert FC as the University of California, Santa Barbara on Saturday, February 18th. The game will follow four days of training in Santa Barbara by the team and will probably include multiple practices over those days. No time is listed, and whether or not any coverage will be provided is unknown.

However, the following weekend, Saturday, February 25, 2017, the LA Galaxy will once again return to StubHub Center as they host the 2015 MLS Cup Champions, Portland Timbers. This game will kickoff at 8 PM and will be a Season Ticket Holder Bonus Game. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at the same time the Xolos exhibition match tickets go up — January 31, 2017. Both games can be purchased at www.LAGalaxy.com/tickets.

This Galaxy and Timbers game will also be televised on Spectrum Sportsnet.

And in a change from the past seasons, the LA Galaxy have added their Season Ticket Holder Event to the preseason Calendar. Currently scheduled for Sunday, February 26th, Season ticket holders will be able to get the 2017 version of the event over before the team ever has an official game. And unlike last year, this years’ event will be held on a weekend. The time has been announced yet, but this article will be updated when that does happen.

Are you excited about the access to the team this preseason? And for the many viewing opportunities fans will be given to watch the preseason version of the Galaxy take shape? Leave us a comment and tell us which game you’re going to. We’d love to hear it.
