LA Galaxy Players Jelle Van Damme and Giovani dos Santos each made appearances in the 2017 MLS All-Star Game as the MLS All-Stars faced off against La Liga giants Real Madrid.

In a game that won’t mean anything regardless of the final score (MLS 1-1 Real Madrid; Real Madrid win on Penalty Kicks 4-2 because why not?) and regardless of how much European or MLS fans beat their chest about it, Van Damme and Dos Santos did just fine.

See below for our detailed recap of the “big game.”

JELLE VAN DAMME:

  • Started the Game
  • Played 45-minutes
  • Did not get injured

GIOVANI DOS SANTOS

  • Entered in the 62nd-minute
  • Played 28-minutes
  • Hit his penalty kick off the crossbar
  • Did not get injured

The LA Galaxy will face off against the Portland Timbers on Sunday, August 6th, in a game that was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff time. But because of the forecasted 98°F heat in Portland, the game will instead kick off at 11 a.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

I do this because I love the game. But also because there aren't enough independent news choices when it comes to covering the team. That's my goal - to give you news, and information seen through my lens and to communicate my insight. All thoughts and opinions are my own. And because I'm the boss, it's unlikely I'll fire myself!
