On today’s show, your hosts discuss the “changes” the LA Galaxy have made to the front office. Is this in any way a positive for the club?
COG STUDIOS, Calif — The LA Galaxy made an announcement this week taking the General Manager title away from Pete Vagenas and reinstating him as the club’s Vice President of Soccer Operations. By doing that they also gave Sigi Schmid complete control over player personnel decisions.
Did the musical chairs help the Galaxy? Who is the actual GM now? Did the club hold themselves accountable to the fans or their players?
Your hosts Josh Guesman and Larry Morgan discuss what these decisions mean for the Galaxy in the near term and what this might also mean down the road.
The guys will start by talking about Schmid’s new role with the Galaxy. What type of team will he build and what does this mean for the Galaxy’s focus on going “younger?”
And maybe it’s just us, but it seems like the club has quietly shifted their overall story when it comes to using their academy. Does Schmid mean to take this team in the opposite direction? Will getting older help the Galaxy?
Next Josh and Larry discuss the effect Vagenas has had on this team. What have the decision makers done to this team going back a few years and why are they still there if this season was such a miserable disaster? Does the front office owe the fans an explanation?
Finally, they’ll take a look at the remaining Galaxy news. Who ended up with the end of the year awards? And why you shouldn’t listen to anyone who didn’t vote for these two guys!
It’s another show where we’re talking about the Galaxy’s offseason priorities while other teams battle in the playoffs.
