Podcast: Interview with Kurt Schmid – LA Galaxy Director of Player Personnel and Scouting

On today’s show, your host will talk with newly named Director of Player Personnel and Scouting, Kurt Schmid about what the Galaxy need in 2018.

COG STUDIOS, Calif — The LA Galaxy continued their offseason makeover by announcing that Kurt Schmid, son of Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid, has joined the club after nine years with the Seattle Sounders.

Widely regarded as a very smart scout and a possible General Manager of the future, Kurt Schmid is looking to help the club regain it’s previous form and considers the Galaxy his “hometown” club.

Your host, Josh Guesman, will be joined by Kurt to discuss the Galaxy and what they’re looking to do in the 2018 season.

Did his nine years with the Sounders, a major Galaxy rival, factor in his decision to join the Galaxy? And what does he think the Galaxy need to compete next year? Where is the overall trend of the league going? And has he put on the Galaxy polo yet?

Josh will also discuss what Kurt thinks of the 2017 Galaxy and what it’s like to work with his Dad.

Finally, we’ll give you some background on Kurt and tell what his former boss had to say about him. Is this simply another case of someone being promoted to a job they don’t deserve? We’d love to know your thoughts as well. Send them in!

Also, Josh will also touch on some of the other Galaxy news and maybe even get into some rumors about the Dos Santos brothers. Are they on their way to Liga MX?

How about the five players the Galaxy are releasing. Will there be more? And could the Galaxy actually re-sign some of them?

There are only 74 days remaining in the Galaxy’s long offseason. Are the moves they’re making starting to amount to something? Or have there been no real changes yet?

It’s a quick 30-minutes of Galaxy talk and we’re glad we could bring it to you!
