Podcast: Galaxy lose a legend and then stumble upon Schelotto

On today’s show, your hosts talk about losing Galaxy legend Sigi Schmid. They’ll also dig deep into the signing of Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy have lost MLS coaching legend Sigi Schmid. And while the news wasn’t surprising given his recent health issues, the news of his passing has really allowed us a look at how much of an influence he had on the league and on American soccer in general.

On today’s show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are back to discuss what Schmid meant to each of them and how his passion for soccer influenced the Galaxy and players across the league.

Plus, the guys are really digging the new hire of Guillermo Barros Schelotto and what that could mean for a re-vamped Galaxy. Schelotto seems poised to hit the ground running with a coaching staff that is following him from Boca Juniors. And what does his “evil” twin have to do with him coming to Los Angeles?

And if you didn’t know already, the Galaxy have a plethora of draft picks coming up in the MLS SuperDraft. Exactly how many, and whether they’ll actually pick that many players is up for debate, but perhaps one or two guys can impress enough to get a shot with the senior team.

Finally, Josh and Eric are talking rumors, and how you can start to tell if a rumor makes sense or not. There’s a science behind it and right now, if it’s about a midfielder you can probably throw it out the window.

It’s a packed show that gets you caught up on the Galaxy, and we’re glad you could spend some time with us!
