Podcast: Galaxy need to show “character” vs. Orlando

The LA Galaxy need something to change when they face Orlando City on Friday. Will the losing steak end?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — They were on a plane as we recorded, and they’ll be training across the country on Thursday to try and end a four-game losing streak. Can the LA Galaxy beat Orlando City on Friday night?

On today’s show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou are here to get you ready for a big game for the Galaxy that might tell you how their remaining games will turn out before the international break.

First, Josh and Sophie will discuss the latest Galaxy news that has 17-year-old right back Julian Araujo being called into the U.S. U-20 team for the Under-20 World Cup in Poland. It was a surprise last-minute call-up, and the Galaxy didn’t have to release him, but should the Galaxy have kept him when the team’s depth seems to be an issue?

Then your hosts will discuss the rest of the club’s international call-ups and how that will leave them very shorthanded for up to four games. With seven players eligible for selection — including Araujo and Efrain Alvarez at the U-17 level for Mexico — can the Galaxy still field a competitive team? Even when there are five starters missing?

Josh and Sophie will then turn their attention to all the great listener questions and also kick around some ridiculous rumors while also expanding on what the MLS Collective Bargaining Agreement might mean for players, for travel, and for the restrictive nature of the salary cap.

Finally, they’ll dive into the game against Orlando City as Sophie gives you the proper dramatic intro and what the keys to the game could be for the Galaxy. Does the defense have chemistry? Will the club be able to handle Nani? And can the Galaxy stop their slide before the Gold Cup break?

We’ve got over 75-minutes of Galaxy-talk just waiting for you!
