How often do you get a chance to save soccer? And with the LA Galaxy win in the Open Cup, is their run basically over?
COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy advanced past the last remaining amateur team in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Wednesday night in front of a raucous crowd of 5,000. Did we learn anything about the team from their performance?
Plus, the show will be joined by the owner of Temecula FC to talk about the NPSL’s side potential last game and what you can do to save local soccer for one local team (BUY TICKETS: http://temeculafc.com)
But on today’s show, we’re diving into the Cup win over Orange County FC with help from hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira. Together, the guys will be talking about Efrain Alvarez’s contributions on the field and the successes and failures of the game.
The Galaxy scored three goals in the second half, and the 16-year-old Alvarez scored twice, but was the performance good enough? And did Favio Alvarez contribute enough on the night? Did Ema Boateng’s stock rise? Did Chris Pontius do enough to make you feel comfortable without Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
And now that the Galaxy advanced, why is Josh telling you the cup run for the club is over? There’s a long history of MLS club’s having success in the Open Cup for one big reason. And that reason is totally against the Galaxy.
Then the guys will get down and dirty with the release of the MLS Players Association Salary numbers. We’ll tell you who got the most significant raises, who lost money, and who’s performance through the rest of the year determines whether or not they get another contract.
Plus, we find out what all the new players to the Galaxy are making and whether they fall in line with what we think is reasonable.
We’ll also be comparing team spending across Major League Soccer and tell you what teams spend the most by position. Here’s a hint, the Galaxy lead in two categories and are 16th in spending in a category everyone complains about regularly.
It’s a packed show with over 60 minutes of Galaxy-talk! Don’t miss it!
