Podcast: No rest, back-to-back games on turf for the Galaxy

No Zlatan Ibrahimovic midweek? Two games on an artificial surface? And a travel schedule that isn’t promising? Welcome to the LA Galaxy and the Open Cup!

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are in for a rough travel week. The club, ahead of its Wednesday night US Open Cup game in Portland will travel on Tuesday before returning quickly home and then out for an MLS match on Saturday night.

If you thought the Galaxy could take the Open Cup seriously, this travel schedule just told you otherwise.

On today’s show, your host Josh Guesman gets you ready for another chaotic week and one that is sure to highlight two different lineups for two very different games.

Josh will explain why the Galaxy weren’t given a choice about taking the Open Cup seriously and how the location of the games makes it even more difficult for the club to focus on it.

He’ll also get you the latest quotes from Galaxy head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto from training on Monday and tell you if Zlatan Ibrahimovic is going to play in the Open Cup game. Is that really a question?

The Galaxy literally have back-to-back games on artificial turf this week, and people are complaining about them not taking the Open Cup Seriously?

Josh will also talk about Uriel Antuna’s big night with Mexico and how the rest of the six — yes I said six — Internationals are doing with their call-ups.

It’s a good, quick update for your Galaxy loving ways. And we’re delighted you could join us!
