Podcast: Galaxy performance in DC is both good and bad

Can you really take something positive from the LA Galaxy loss to DC? And does luck factor into this loss more than skill?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — Can the LA Galaxy have a moral victory despite losing a frustrating game? Did the Galaxy learn enough from a loss to DC United to make the rest of the season a winner? Or did the scoreline tell the real story about this team?

Your hosts Josh Guesman (Galaxy Beat Reporter), and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Writer) join together to give you 60 minutes of insightful Galaxy takes. And on today’s show, they’re tackling the 2-1 loss to DC United that started a hectic week for the club.

They’ll start by talking about the Galaxy debut of Cristian Pavon and what success he had on the night. He’s undoubtedly a technically gifted player, and on that looked right at home in the Galaxy offense, but what could he improve upon, and which combinations will benefit him and LA?

And Favio Alvarez looks like he’s going to have a much more significant role with Pavon in the lineup. Could this be the start of a great partnership? Is this just a product of having played together before? Does that mean the Galaxy are moving on from Sebastian Lletget and Romain Alessandrini?

The guys discuss all the positives that came out of the loss and also tell you why Dennis te Kloese is feeling confident about this team. Kevin’s discussion with te Kloese may also reveal how much that buy-out number for Pavon is.

Finally, the guys focus in on the Galaxy’s playoff chances, why a win or a loss against Dallas could point the direction for things to come, and why the Galaxy are still a playoff team.

The margin for error is razor-thin with just ten games remaining. Can the Galaxy make a statement before the week is over?
