The LA Galaxy will travel to face LAFC in the fifth version of this El Trafico rivalry but with a much bigger target on their back. And the smack talk hits new levels
COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are getting ready for the fifth edition of El Trafico, and you can hear it all around the city, this one is going to be big! There are billboards, sound-bites, and everything else you’d expect from El Trafico. But this time, the rhetoric is just a little bit more pointed.
On today’s show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira, are getting you ready for all the festivities this Sunday. That means going over all the news and results that haven’t been covered since our Monday show.
That means the guys will start with the loss in the Leagues Cup to Cruz Azul. It was a game that meant little to most, but for some reason, also showed that the Galaxy’s depth continues to grow. But some players looked out of their depth, and that’s a big issue for the Galaxy going forward.
Josh and Eric will also discuss the big difference between Liga MX and MLS and what gap still needs to be closed before there’s actual equality between the two leagues.
The guys are also going to talk about the current standings in both conferences, who would be playing who if the playoffs started now, and why the Galaxy need to continue to tread water while keeping themselves in the top four in the conference.
Finally, there’s an epic game intro as they get you ready for LAFC and the Galaxy to face off on Sunday at Banc of California Stadium. They’ll discuss the lousy starting time, some cheeky billboards, and one inflammatory quote that had no reason being said.
Will Guillermo Barros Schelotto be sending emails to all the players with this prime bulletin board material? Will LAFC get over the mental block the Galaxy have held over them since their re-birth? And can the Galaxy once again upset the favorites on their home turf?
It’s a packed show full of some excellent Galaxy discussion. We’re glad you could join us!
