Podcast: Galaxy knocked out for 2019. What’s next?

The LA Galaxy didn’t have a complete team in 2019. And the loss to LAFC proved it. So what happens next for some big pieces of th team?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are out of the playoffs. And to make it harder to swallow, they were knocked out by those noisy neighbors in one of the biggest games in MLS history.

But not all is lost. And we want to tell you what we saw from the game and start gearing you up for a busy offseason.

On today’s show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are in the studio less than 24 hours since the loss at LAFC’s Banc of California Stadium. And with very little sleep, and a whole bunch of caffeine, the guys are discussing the Galaxy’s success and failures in the game.

Josh will set the stage for just how big a game this was and why this was more than a league game; it was a global game.

Then, the guys dive into Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s starting lineup and why it sealed the fate of the Galaxy from the beginning. Could GBS have used some other players? Was Uriel Antuna really good enough to start the game? And could Rolf Feltscher’s appearance have been sooner?

The guys also look at the horrendous play from Diego Polenta and Pipo Gonzalez and wonder if either of them now have to worry about coming back next year.

And with next year already on everyone’s mind, Josh and Eric discuss Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future and who might be leaving this team.

Josh will even give you a tentative list of players and their contract situations. Who do you want to stay on this team? AND STOP CALLING IT A REBUILD!

We’ve got a packed show that won’t make you feel any better about the loss. But it will have you looking to next season with some general thoughts in mind.

Thanks for hanging out with us this past season! We’ve enjoyed getting to know you, and hopefully, that means you’ll stick around with us as we get you through a busy offseason!
