The LA Galaxy seem to be on the hunt for Greg Vanney – former Toronto FC head coach. Does Vanney check all the boxes? Or are there some questions about his credentials?
COG STUDIOS, Calif. —The LA Galaxy may have a new no. One candidate for their head coaching vacancy, and he’s a former Galaxy player. What made Greg Vanney leave Toronto after a very successful run, and what could detract from what seems like a perfect person to fill the role for the struggling Galaxy?
On today’s show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss the Galaxy’s clear target for their coaching vacancy. Does he check all the boxes? Or does Vanney have some things working against him? After all, he got one MLS Cup with the most expensive roster in the league over multiple seasons.
And did Vanney have a ton of help from the General Manager’s side of things? We’ll discuss Tim Lieweke’s involvement with MLSE and why that certainly has something to do with his success.
But the bottom line may be that Galaxy fans will need to have patience with a coach that loves to build things. And with the Galaxy, he’ll need to make them back into an MLS dominant power.
Plus, the guys discuss AJ DeLaGarza’s future with the club and why he might be another piece to add in the offseason. Does the locker room need help? Is DeLaGarza that guy?
