Podcast: An Irrelevant Rivalry, Chicharito Chasing Zlatan, and a Galaxy Education

The LA Galaxy got two goals from Chicharito and found San Jose an easy place to play. What happens during the Gold Cup and how shorthanded are the Galaxy going to be for the Fourth of July?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy played a game on Saturday night that was supposed to renew one of MLS’s oldest rivalries. Instead, what they got from the San Jose Earthquakes was a team that had given up on their coach and maybe even their season. The Galaxy dispatched San Jose with the first comfortable win of the season, and we’re here to talk about it.

On today’s show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss all the fun details of the game and why the Galaxy weren’t tested — some of that has to do with the Earthquakes. And some of that has to do with the Galaxy learning how to dispatch an opponent early.

The guys will talk about the standout performance for Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, how he was named player of the week for the third time, and why he’s level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the first ten games of the season.

Plus, Josh will break down some Galaxy stats and tell you why the Galaxy are trending in the right direction, as long as no one wants to pay attention to the 2019 season.

Finally, Josh and Kevin will talk about why Samuel Grandsir might be in trouble with his “boss” and what Kevin Cabral and Grandsir were able to do against San Jose. Is the French connection starting to come together?

We’ve got a great show ready to get through a long week that won’t end until the Galaxy host Sporting KC without some of their better players.

As always, we appreciate you! Thanks for the love!
