PODCAST: Now that’s the LA Galaxy we should have seen all year! Will Costa stay on the bench?

The LA Galaxy looked comfortable with Cabral and Grandsir running at defenses. But they looked most comfortable with Costa on the bench!

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy scored their most goals this season as they ran away to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps. It was the most goals they’ve scored in a single game since 2019 and the most goals scored in a first half since 2016.

But the biggest problem with this team is the consistency and finishing. Can they fix those as Seattle gets ready to come to town?

On today’s show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to talk about the formation that the Galaxy feel comfortable in and the fact that Douglas Costa got benched. Are these things related?

Josh and Kevin will start by sifting through a wild and crazy MLS weekend that was only spurred on by the Galaxy and Vancouver scoring seven combined goals. Will this be a sign of things to come in the league with just ten games left for LA?

And was Greg Vanney sending a message to Costa that he’s going to let this team settle into a 4-2-3-1 with Sam Grandsir and Kevin Cabral on the wing? And is Vanney sticking by Cabral throughout this season even as bogus rumors are taken down?

Plus, what do the 2022 Galaxy and the 2012 Galaxy have in common? Does that mean something for this weekend’s game? And can we project anything forward about a struggling Seattle Sounders side?

We’ve got a show packed full of stats and interesting tidbits. Including a tiny hint about a jersey sponsorship that will probably make you angry!

As always, thanks for joining us on Monday! And what do you know? Things are just a little bit better when the Galaxy win!
