Chicago comes to Carson in March and the Galaxy announce other preseason dates and a Jersey Launch Party
CARSON, Calif. — The LA Galaxy will open the 2019 Regular Season against the Chicago Fire on March 2, the club announced on Thursday. The match will kick-off at 5 p.m. PT at the newly renamed Dignity Health Sports Park.
In their only matchup of the season last year, the Galaxy, aided by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal, beat the Fire in Chicago, by a score of 1-0 last April.
Chicago last visited Carson in May of 2016 with a certain Brazilian midfielder helping the Fire to a 2-2 draw with the Galaxy. This time around, the newly-signed Juninho will be back in his more familiar colors of white, blue, and gold.
The opening day kick-off will mark the 44th contest between the two clubs with the Galaxy going 21-15-7. All-time, the Galaxy are 14-8-2 for all their home openers including a win over the Western Conference Champion Portland Timbers in 2018.
Tickets for the game will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, December 27 at 1 p.m. with an exclusive presale for Season Ticket members kicking off at 10 a.m.
The rest of the MLS and Galaxy calendar’s will be released at a later date.
Additionally, the Galaxy have also released a preseason schedule that includes three preseason games and a Jersey Launch party as the club will wind its way to a new season.
The Galaxy will host Toronto FC at DHS Park on Saturday, February 9, travel down to the OC Great Park for the second time in as many years to host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, February 16 and close out the preseason with a Saturday, February 23 match against the Colorado Rapids back in Carson.
Season Ticket Members will have both of the DHS Park games included in their package. But will need to RSVP to receive more information about the Great Park game (reduced capacity of the venue means that tickets will be at a premium).
The Jersey Launch Party, held for the second year in a row at The Novo at LA Live, will take place Sunday, February 17. More information about the event should be released at a later date.
