CARSON, Calif. — The LA Galaxy have just added another International Roster Spot. The club announced a trade with New York City FC today in a move that will see the Galaxy acquire an International slot in return for allocation money.
New York City will receive $100,000 in General Allocation Money along with $75,000 in Targeted Allocation Money to NYC.
That brings the total international slots to 10 for the Galaxy with two open spots. Currently, the Galaxy’s first eight slots are occupied by Romain Alessandrini, Uriel Antuna, Jonathan dos Santos, Rolf Feltscher, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Diego Polenta, Jorgen Skjelvik, and Diedie Traore.

It still seems likely that Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese will close that deal, but the acquisition of this tenth spot seems to indicate he has his sights on something or someone else.
And the position of need, outside of defense, is in the attack. With the Galaxy currently relying on 37-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic and 20-year-old Ethan Zubak.
No credible names have popped up in recent weeks, but this will certainly fan the flames of anyone who was previously linked with the Galaxy or anyone who will eventually be put forward in the coming days.
