PODCAST: Galaxy Advance to MLS Cup, But Puig Tears ACL in Victory

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — You couldn’t be blamed for not believing in this LA Galaxy team at the beginning of 2024. The Galaxy had won eight games in 2023 and seemed about as far from the MLS Cup as their 13th-place finish in the West indicated.

That’s what makes it all the crazier that on Saturday night, the Galaxy played their best game of the season. They went toe-to-toe with the Seattle Sounders, besting them by a score of 1-0 to advance to the MLS Cup. But the Galaxy lost the true heartbeat of the team when Riqui Puig was ruled out for the final game with an ACL Tear.

But what Puig did in his 90-plus minutes against the Sounders is what legends are made of.

Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to talk about the game against Seattle and why this version of the Galaxy was as complete as you can get. And that’s way different from how they started the season.

Join us for nearly 90 minutes of Galaxy talk during an MLS Cup week. These don’t happen very often.
