COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are closing in on Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, but new reporting reveals this move has been developing much longer than it may appear.

According to reporting discussed on the show, the Galaxy began looking seriously at Lozano as far back as January, when he was considered a potential solution following Riqui Puig’s injury. The club has since spent months vetting Lozano, talking to people around him and evaluating whether the problems in San Diego were something that could follow him to Los Angeles. The Galaxy believe they’ve done that homework—and believe they’re getting their guy.
The expected deal would bring Lozano to Los Angeles on a short-term loan as a Designated Player, with San Diego paying the majority of his salary and the Galaxy taking on less than half. That gives LA several months to determine whether Lozano can rediscover his best form before potentially making the move permanent.
