PODCAST: Chucky Lozano OUT, Klauss Returns to St. Louis | The Most Important Week of the Year

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are entering their most important week of the 2026 MLS season — and they’ll have to navigate it without Chucky Lozano.

With just six regular-season games remaining, the Galaxy face a brutal stretch of three matches in seven days, starting with a difficult road trip to St. Louis CITY SC. On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira break down the latest injury news, Greg Vanney’s lineup decisions, and a Western Conference playoff race that could change dramatically in a matter of days.

The biggest development? Chucky Lozano is officially out for at least the next three games after an MRI confirmed a mild hamstring sprain. That leaves the Galaxy without one of their most dynamic attacking players at a critical moment. Josh and Eric discuss what Lozano’s absence means for LA’s postseason hopes — and whether his injury could complicate the club’s decision about his future as a Designated Player.

There is some good news: Joseph Paintsil is back, having scored in his return against Cruz Azul. But with his minutes still limited, the Galaxy will need contributions from Robert Taylor, Harbor Miller, Eric Thommy and others to fill the gap. Meanwhile, Marco Reus also requires careful management, leaving Vanney with some difficult decisions about how to distribute playing time.

And then there’s João Klauss, who returns to St. Louis for the first time since leaving the club. With seven goals in limited minutes this season, Klauss has become an important part of LA’s recent turnaround. Can he deliver against his former team?

The challenge is enormous. St. Louis enters the matchup riding a 17-game unbeaten streak in MLS, sitting near the top of the Western Conference and presenting one of the toughest tests on the Galaxy’s remaining schedule.

But the bigger picture extends beyond Sunday. With crucial home matches against Portland and San Diego immediately afterward, LA has a chance to strengthen its postseason position—or watch its recent momentum disappear.

Josh and Eric also examine the Western Conference standings, the results Galaxy fans should be watching around MLS, and whether Vanney should prioritize the upcoming home games over a difficult road matchup. They debate what LA’s recent comeback victories really tell us about the team — and whether the Galaxy are genuinely improving or simply finding ways to survive.

With the pressure mounting on Vanney, every lineup decision could have consequences well beyond the next 90 minutes.

Can the Galaxy keep their season alive without Lozano? Can Klauss make the difference against his former club? And will this be the week that determines LA’s postseason fate?

🎙️ Corner of the Galaxy has the injury updates, Greg Vanney’s comments, tactical analysis, match predictions and playoff scenarios you need before LA Galaxy vs. St. Louis CITY SC.
