COG STUDIOS, Calif. — El Tráfico is here, and the LA Galaxy are running out of opportunities to prove they’re a playoff team!
With just three games remaining in the 2026 MLS regular season, the Galaxy head to BMO Stadium to face LAFC in a rivalry match that could change the direction of their entire season. But can Greg Vanney’s team deliver against its biggest rival when the pressure is at its highest?
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou debate whether the Galaxy are finally becoming a dangerous playoff contender or simply benefiting from a struggling Western Conference.
Sophie believes the Galaxy are finding their identity at exactly the right time. Josh isn’t convinced. Despite an improved mentality and encouraging recent performances, LA’s statistical improvement since the World Cup break has been surprisingly limited.
Is this a team preparing for a postseason run, or are familiar weaknesses waiting to resurface?
The conversation turns to Marco Reus, João Klauss, and the Galaxy’s search for a difference-maker. Klauss has transformed LA’s attack since returning from injury, while Reus continues to provide the creativity and leadership this team desperately needs. But with Joseph Paintsil struggling to make an impact, who will step up when the Galaxy need a game-changing moment?
And could Chucky Lozano return for El Tráfico?
Josh and Sophie examine the latest injury questions, Sergi Roberto’s growing influence, and why Lozano’s availability could be critical to the Galaxy’s postseason ambitions. His return remains uncertain, and the Galaxy must balance the need for immediate results against the risks of rushing him back.
Defensively, Greg Vanney faces another major decision. Should he continue with the younger center-back pairing of Emiro Garcés and Justin Haak, or bring former MLS Defender of the Year Jakob Glesnes back into the starting lineup?Against LAFC’s dangerous counterattack, the decision could shape the entire match.
Then it’s time for the complete LA Galaxy vs. LAFC preview!
With LAFC struggling for consistency, Sophie sees an opportunity for the Galaxy to make a statement at BMO Stadium. Josh argues that recent form means very little in El Tráfico, where emotion, momentum, and unpredictable moments often determine the result.
They examine LAFC’s attacking threats, the tactical matchup, JT Marcinkowski’s outstanding performances in goal, and why this rivalry could provide the emotional spark the Galaxy need heading into the final weeks of the season.
The Western Conference playoff race is also tightening. The Galaxy control their own destiny, but with LAFC, Austin FC, and Real Salt Lake remaining, every point matters. Can LA climb the standings and potentially avoid the MLS playoff play-in game?
Plus, Josh and Sophie deliver their El Tráfico predictions and debate whether a victory over LAFC would finally prove the Galaxy belong among the Western Conference’s dangerous teams.
Can the Galaxy turn belief into results? Will Chucky Lozano return? And could Sunday’s rivalry become the defining moment of LA’s 2026 season?
