LA Galaxy Face Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday

Carson CA – On Saturday August 27, the Galaxy return home to StubHub Center to play against a Cascadia team that some media members saw as the club to represent the West in MLS Cup. The match is at 7:30pm PT on TWC SportsNet and TWC Deportes. The match presents two sides on winless runs, the Galaxy on a five match winless run, that saw the guys tie Chicago 2-2 on Wednesday, and the Whitecaps are on a four match winless streak after losing to Sporting KC last time out 2-0.  The Galaxy sit fourth and the Whitecaps are 9th just below the red line, both in the Western Conference.

Vancouver will be looking to ride some CONCACAF Champions’ League momentum as they balanced their 2-0 loss in MLS play at Sporting Kansas City with a CCL 3-0 victory over the same team on Tuesday night.

This is the third match in the season series between the clubs. The last time out the Galaxy won 2-0 at StubHub, on an amazing goal from Robbie Keane and a Jeff Larentowicz header. However, in the first match the clubs struggled to a scoreless draw, at BC Place despite the LA Galaxy being up a man for the majority of the match. With the win in the last match, it ended Vancouver’s three match unbeaten streak in the series.

All time the Galaxy are 9-3-3 against the Whitecaps, while scoring 25 goals and giving up just 11. The LA Galaxy are 7-1 against the Whitecaps at StubHub Center.  Bruce in his managing career has been in charge of 15 matches: 9 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties. Carl Robinson in his short career has been in charge of 7 matches: 2 wins, 3 losses, 2 ties.

The Whitecaps will be without Christian Bolaños, who was suspended by the disciplinary committee for a tough hit on Graham Zusi in Vancouver’s loss to SKC. The LA Galaxy may get back goalkeeper Brian Rowe who’s coming off concussion protocol and stitches to his head but Robbie Keane is also a question mark for the team as he picked up a knock in training (possible groin injury according to Whitecaps’ Carl Robinson) and did not play in the teams midweek matchup with Chicago.

Stay tuned after the match, for all your Galaxy coverage on Corner of the Galaxy.
