LA Galaxy II Lose 3-0 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks to End Road Trip

The LA Galaxy II were handed yet another defeat on Saturday night as they fell to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks 3-0. Everyone on the squad will be happy to return home after a tough road trip. Of the 15 points available, Los Dos managed to win only four of them, and have slipped down to sixth in the conference. During this same string of matches, Los Dos have only scored three goals while allowing eight.

It took all but ten minutes for Colorado Springs to find the back of the net. Saeed Robinson whipped a dangerous cross into the middle of the 18-yard-box. Robinson found a wide open Mike Smith in the area who made no mistake with his finish as he beat Clement Diop.

Right before the halftime interval, Smith completed his brace. Mike Smith scored near the same area as the first, but this time off of a corner kick from Luke Vercollone.

Two minutes before the hour mark, Luke Vercollone scored Colorado Springs third and final goal of the night. The Switchbacks’ Jordan Burt sent a good cross, something the hosts did all night long, into the area and found Vercollone free in the box. Luke Vercollone found the back of the net with a bit of ease as he secured all three points for Colorado Springs.

One thing that has been evident during this stretch has been the absence of Jack McBean. McBean, who is currently on loan at Coventry City in England, was the driving factor in the final third of the pitch. And with the 21-year-old striker missing from the starting XI, Los Dos are not threatening inside the final third of the pitch whatsoever. Someone has to step up in that department if LA Galaxy II have aspirations of making a deep playoff run.

Los Dos finally return home after a disappointing last several games. On September 10th, the young G’s host northern California rivals, Sacramento FC for the third and final time this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
