Podcast: Unexpected Galaxy wins, broken seats, and a turning point

The LA Galaxy beat a full-strength Liga MX team, take down their rival, and escape the DisCo. Not a bad week.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — First, the LA Galaxy shock the league with a dominating performance over LAFC in El Trafico, and the reserves get a runout in the Leagues Cup and beat a first-team Club Tijuana side. WHAT IS HAPPENING?

On today’s show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are updating you on some of the last items from the El Trafico win. That includes an update on LAFC fans breaking seats, and on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s non-suspension. Did MLS get this one right?

Or is there a bigger problem with the DisCo and how they’re allowed to adjudicate clear errors in refereeing. I mean, we had a definite red card in this game. Everyone agrees it’s a red card. But it won’t be punished because it’s not worthy of a two-game suspension.

But Josh and Eric also want to talk about the surprising shootout win over Xolos. What does it mean when an MLS team of reserves beats a first-rate Liga MX side? And did we change our minds on Leagues Cup?

The guys talk ball racks, getting paid, and a lot more of the detailed discussion we’re known for.

And are the Galaxy going after Cristian Pavon one more time? What does it mean for Boca Juniors, and why could this deal be a winter move as well?

Finally, we’re getting you ready for the Galaxy’s away match against the Portland Timbers. With all the momentum the club has built-up in the last few weeks, could the Galaxy have more success in Portland? It’s a place they like to win, and a place that the Timbers’ aren’t always comfortable playing.

Could this all play into the Galaxy’s hands, if they do it right?

We’ve got a packed show ready to entertain you until the ball kicks off on Saturday night. Thanks for joining us!
