PODCAST: Joveljic saves the Galaxy again, while Sacramento wants to prove a point

Dejan Joveljic can’t stop scoring. He saved the LA Galaxy against Portland and now he’s got his sights set on Sacramento.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy are in for a tough week. They had to battle for a draw against a Portland Timbers side that pressed all the right buttons, they have to get ready for a Sacramento Republic team that wants to prove they’re MLS ready, and then they’ll travel to take on San Jose in the Cali-Clasico.

On today’s show, hosts Josh Guesman (LA Galaxy beat writer) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter) discuss the Galaxy’s battle against the Timbers and why head coach Greg Vanney probably didn’t see the game the same way you did.

What did fans make of the combination of Dejan Joevljic and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez? And why was the midfield once again at the center of the post-game discussion? Is the 3-5-2 the solution to everyone’s problems? But does that also mean the Galaxy need a central attacking midfielder? Does Vanney want a CAM?

Josh and Kevin will walk you through some of the charts that tell the story of the Galaxy through the first 15 games, and they’ll whisper about how loud Joveljic is with his scoring streak.

Then the guys shift to looking at a stingy Sacramento side led by former LA Galaxy Defender Todd Dunivant. Will the President of the Sacramento Republic make his former club nervous when they come to town playing the exact type of soccer with which the Galaxy have trouble?

Josh and Kevin discuss what they see in this game and why this is truly one of the year’s biggest games with a chance to be two wins from a major trophy.

The show is back and ready to give you all the Galaxy news you need! Let’s get ready for the Open Cup!
