Podcast: Our Galaxy ‘Ted’ Talk (Lasso and Unkel), and a trip to Utah

Yony González is in the United States. We’ll tell you if he might be available for this weekend. Plus, are the Galaxy the sixth-best club in MLS? We’ll explain!

COG STUDIOS, Calif. — The LA Galaxy will need to bounce back after a mostly flat effort against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. But some uncomfortable travel, for a game with fans in the stadium, might be what the doctor ordered.

On today’s show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are discussing all things Ted! That could mean talking about the game and referee Ted Unkel’s controversial decisions, or it could be gushing over TV’s best show, Ted Lasso. Either way, there’s a lot of Ted to talk about.

First, the guys will dissect the Galaxy’s 2-0 loss to the Rapids and tell you why there was plenty of blame to go around. The Galaxy’s midfield has been underperforming, and when Javier “Chicharito” Herandez and Jonathan dos Santos came into the game, nothing happened. Are the Galaxy’s designated players missing that mental edge? And has Cristian Pavon struggled because he’s tired, or is he struggling because teams are determined not to let him beat them?

Josh and Kevin will also discuss Yony González’s arrival to the United States (really, we’re not joking), and tell you when he could be available for selection.

Plus, the rest of the Phase II scheduling is due to be released, and we talk about some international dates that could see the Galaxy’s star players head out of the country. And would that mean they’d have to quarantine coming back? How could that effect the Galaxy’s playoff run?

And speaking of a playoff run, the guys discuss FiveThirtyEight’s predictions on who will make the playoffs, who will win MLS Cup, and who already has the Supporters’ Shield locked up. Do you agree with any of those?

We’ve got a packed show that is pointing you toward the midweek matchup with Real Salt Lake with fans in attendance. Are you going? Will you listen to our podcast on the way?

It’s a busy week, and we’ve got you covered with all the Galaxy-talk you can handle.
